BEST OF "Baby Names I Love But...."

The tag "Baby Names I Love But...." has YouTubers sharing lists of baby names they won't use, might use, will use and even describing how they chose the names they did use.  As we've mentioned, the discovery of a name we've never heard is one of the best things about joining the naming community. As we enjoyed watching these baby name videos, we collected the BEST OF "Baby Names I Love But...."

September and Tuesday

Hannah Carter shared these gems. Both "time" inspired, and certainly unique. We see August all the time, sitting in the Top 200 for boys. Why not September? Both of these brilliant picks currently sit outside the Top 1000.

Charley, Evan and Billie

These gender neutral names come from Brye Ashley, who admits loving "little boy" names for little girls. Very on trend, as we know there are more girls being named versions of  'Charlie' these days than boys.

Suede, Lynwood and McConaughey

Isabella Sainz gave us three names we'd truly never heard before. We were fascinated to learn that Lynwood is a family name~ so cool! And yes, Matthew McConaughey is the inspiration behind this one.

Harris

Sarah - This Mama Life brings us this surname to use first. We checked it with the SSA stats and found that it just once cracked the Top 1000 rising to 969 in 2016. Harrison is a huge hit, so we could totally see this gem making a big move!

Augustine

What a regal alt to the rising August! Tiffany Brito suggested this distinguished little boy's name and we are intrigued. It seems quite masculine and fresh, but with a classic feel. Auggie, Gus, Tino... clever nn possibilities here.

Nyle and Callahan

Kelsey Simo  provided another name we'd not before considered. Nyle is short and smooth, and not so common, falling outside of the Top 1000. It fits with the one-syllable trend we are seeing for boys. She also had a very special naming story to wrap her inspirational video, check out her thoughts on a name for baby Cal.

Audie

This name for a baby girl was mentioned Kailyn Cash, and yes, she acknowledged that it was like the car, but her pronunciation and emphasis on spelling it with an -ie ending made it sound like quite a sweet little name.

Wesson, Bradlee and Cronan

FeliciaNicholle truly brings unique names to another level! Wesson was discussed with Smith, of course, and someone in the comments actually knew twins with that name pair. As for Bradlee, it would be for a little girl. How sweet! Glad she got back to us on the spelling of her "Cronan." So many uncommon names in her collection, we'd definitely tune in for another edition!

Name Watch 2020: Names for Boys that End with -s

Boy's names that end in the letter "s" are everywhere!  At least it seems that way. Of course with James being perhaps the most popular boy's name of all time, you'd think that -s enders would be all over the charts. Not exactly. There's Lucas of course, coming in at #8 in 2018, but then you have to go all the way to #49 and classic Thomas before you see another boy's name that ends in -s.  So why then, does it feel like we are seeing them everywhere? We are seeing these -s ending names  trend into a few categories. Nature Names An earthy vibe is something we've long seen in naming, yet don't tend to find in the Top 100. Last year we predicted that we'd see some on the rise, yet these boho names still don't top the charts. Perhaps these -s ending nature names will move on up this year. Honor Names

We have a gal in the family named Kenzie, and recall that her parents were asked many times after the name announcement, "it's just Kenzie?" Friends and family considering it an invented name, or version of the top 100 at the time, MacKenzie. We recently posted the name Kenzie on our instagram feed. A follower commented that she had the name on her list because her dad was (Ken)neth and her mother was Mit(zie). We thought, brilliant! We also know of a sweet little girl with the middle name Jack! Adore. It got us thinking, what are the ways that you can pay tribute to someone when naming your baby? As we worked on this idea, we saw an extended family member post that her brother Jonathan had a baby girl this week and named her Johnna. Dad's Name for Daughter One of our favorite stories is of a loved one we know, Stephanie Leah who is named after her father, Stephen Lee. Female versions of male names are playful and make for such a fabulous honor name. It doesn...
